Overstocked stands opened up for spacing, vigor, and species mix, so the trees you keep grow better than the ones you had.
Ladder fuels, doghair regen, and understory brush knocked back before they become the reason a ground fire reaches the crowns.

We walk the property with you and listen: what you want from the land, what worries you, what you want it to look like in twenty years.

Species mix, stocking, fuels, soils, slope, access. Education and experience mean we see what the land is telling us, not just what’s easiest to cut.
A plan with straight answers
What we’d do, what it costs, and why it’s worth it: forest health, fire risk, property value. If a job isn’t worth doing, we’ll tell you that too.

Karl Crittenden
Owner · ForesterKarl holds a degree in Forestry and worked as a DNRC forester before founding Emergent. He’s spent his career reading northwest Montana’s timber, and he still starts every job the same way: on foot, in the stand.
Behind him is a small, seasoned crew that’s worked these woods together for years.
Born here. Raised here. Working the same forests, mountains, and rivers we grew up in. And planning to keep it that way.
